Rescuing a Frozen Surface Book From Browser Hijackers & Bloatware
A Microsoft Surface Book had become painfully slow, with unwanted browser pop-ups and several unwanted programs running in the background. The customer needed the computer working again without guessing at a fix.
We identified browser-hijacking software, intrusive toolbar processes, misleading updater utilities, and security software adding to the strain on the system.
What we did
- Checked system health and storage performance.
- Identified and removed unwanted processes.
- Cleaned up browser hijackers and adware.
- Ran system repair and update checks.
Result: a responsive computer the customer could use confidently again.
CASE STUDY 02 · WATER DAMAGE REPAIR
Saving a Water-Damaged MacBook Air—and Helping the Customer Avoid a Replacement
After a spill, a customer’s MacBook Air would not turn on. Another shop had recommended replacing it, but the customer wanted a second opinion before making that investment.
Our inspection found corrosion near the power-delivery circuit on the logic board—an issue that could be addressed with component-level repair work rather than a full board replacement.
The repair
- Disassembled the MacBook to inspect the logic board.
- Cleaned corrosion from the affected area.
- Replaced failed components using micro-soldering techniques.
Result: the MacBook powered on again and avoided an unnecessary replacement.
